QUESTION 1 | WHAT IS THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS & ALUMNI (HEPA)?
>HEPA carries the significant responsibility of student development to ensure UNIMEL produces graduates who are holistic, entrepreneurial, and well-balanced.
QUESTION 2 | WHERE IS THE HEPA OFFICE LOCATED?
>The HEPA Office is located at the Chancellery Building, Ground Floor, Universiti Islam Melaka.
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
QUESTION 3 | WHAT TYPES OF ASSISTANCE ARE PROVIDED TO STUDENTS?
>For information regarding the types of assistance available, please refer to the Services > Student Assistance section.
QUESTION 4 | HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE STUDENT WELFARE FUND (TKP)?
>Students can apply for the BTKP Assistance once an application memo is issued by HEPA. The application is conducted online via a link or QR code (“Google Form”) provided in the memo. Submitted applications will be reviewed; if complete, students will be contacted via phone call, WhatsApp, or SMS to attend an interview. Students who pass the interview will be notified to collect their approval letter at the HEPA office.
QUESTION 5 | WHOM SHOULD I CONTACT IF I EXPERIENCE STRESS, EMOTIONAL PRESSURE, OR MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES?
>Students may contact the Student Support Unit (Guidance and Counseling) for a session. All discussions are strictly confidential. Appointments can be made through the online system on the HEPA website via the Services > Guidance and Counseling button.
QUESTION 6 | IS INVOLVEMENT IN CLUBS, ASSOCIATIONS, AND SPORTS COMPULSORY?
>Participation is highly encouraged as it helps develop soft skills, leadership, communication, and social networking.
QUESTION 7 | HOW DO I ESTABLISH A NEW CLUB OR ASSOCIATION?
>Applications to establish a club or association must include a draft constitution, objectives, and a list of committee members. The application will be reviewed by officers from the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs & Alumni (PTNCHEPA) to ensure no overlap with existing clubs. Successful applicants will be issued an approval letter, and the club/association will be officially registered by HEPA.
QUESTION 8 | WHAT ACTIONS ARE TAKEN IF A STUDENT VIOLATES UNIVERSITY OR RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE RULES?
>A student found guilty of a disciplinary offense may be subject to any one, or a combination of two or more, of the following penalties:
- Warning
- A fine not exceeding one thousand ringgit for each offense
- Compulsory attendance at counseling sessions
- Prohibition from using any or all university facilities for a specified period
- Compensation and/or restitution for losses and/or damages
- Suspension from being a university student for a specified period
- Expulsion and/or termination from the University
